Disney World Dining

I decided to break up my Disney blog post into a few posts to break it down.  Some of you may be more interested in dining versus fast passes or where I recommend staying.  I also didn’t want to make the post too long.

Okay.  So for our trip we did the 5-Day Park Pass with Park Hopper Option.  We also did the Disney Dining Plan.  I think next time we would do the new Disney Dining Plan Plus option.  It offers more flexibility.  My mom wasn’t a fan of quick service meals for dinner, and honestly some of the quick service meals really should’ve been considered snacks.

These are the Table-Service dining options that we chose.  We added one extra dinner meal and cancelled one breakfast.  We would’ve loved to do the breakfast but when you run out of meals you pay out of pocket.  With that in mind, if you plan on doing that (like we did for one meal) you can check the menu in advance and figure out which meal is the cheapest.  It usually is the ones that aren’t buffet or fixed price menu

Garden Grill at Epcot

Our breakfast was at 8:05am which I would definitely recommend because you finish up right around 9 which is when the park/rides actually open.  The Garden Grill is located in the same building as Soarin' -- not a ride that I went on (I don't like simulators) but Scott and B went on it and didn't have to wait very long.  There is also Living with the Land in the same building which was really interesting and great for younger kids.  Make sure you look out for the Cinderella pumpkin that looks like Mickey Mouse.

As for the food.  It was pretty good.  It is family style dining so you pick what you want and get a range of items.  The typical basket of pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes..etc..  If you have a food allergy they are very accomodating.  Alcohol is included with seated meals for anyone over 21 so if you want a mimosa or bellini, go for it.  They also had another "Disney" drink, but I don't remember what it is called.

Keep in mind that tips are not included and are billed to your room after each meal.  They are 18%.

This character breakfast you will meet characters like Chip, Dale, Goofy, and Pluto.

Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom

Buffet style dinner.  Not the best food I've ever head but you are really going to this meal to meet Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore.

Disney Jr. Play 'n Dine Breakfast at Hollywood Studios

My kids loved this breakfast.  It is another buffet character breakfast, but you get to meet Doc McStuffins, Fancy Nancy, and Vampirina.  Our reservation was at 8:00am which I would totally recommend, especially if you want to try to score boarding passes to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.  I'll share more about that on another post.

Tusker House Restaurant

This was probably our favorite restaurant.  It is buffet style but all the food is made from scratch.  It is an African buffet.  I wouldn't say it is exotic items but the food definitely had more flavor than other buffets.  They also have great choices for kids.  The characters that visit are all dressed up as if they were going on a Safari.

Cinderella's Table at Cinderella's Castle

This is one of the more expensive meals.  It requires 2 seated meal credits (I'm not sure how it would work with the newer meal plan).  If your child loves Disney princesses then I would recommend this meal.  I wouldn't say the food is amazing but it is plated and you do have a number of selections to choose from.  The kids also get a sword or a magic star wand and a star button.  It is very interactive and you get to meet a lot of Princesses.

Sebastian's Bistro at Caribbean Beach Resort

This restaurant is a hidden gem.  It is small so if you have a large party you usually have to make 2 separate reservations and ask them if you can be seated together.  This restaurant has a carribean vibe to it.  You have to like things like mahi mahi or jerk chicken.  They do have the usual choices for kids and my toddler absolutely loved the frozen grapes as a side dish.

In terms of snack credits.  You can use them all over the parks and even at Disney Springs.  We ended up having a lot of snack credits to use up before we left so we went to the Confectionary in Magic Kingdom and got a bunch of treats.  Some of which we ate before we left while the packaged ones we brought home.  My friend ended up taking 60 Mickey Mouse cookies home!
